Who's this perfectly toneless, colourless and characterless gentleman? He is Britain's antidote to bright and foxy, loud and poxy Bliar.
Ok, so he is no Joe Black and couldn't kiss a woman like Brad Pitt (or at all - he's more important things to do than skirt chasing, ya know! But then again, that didn't stop Billy Goat Clinton...)
But calling our new PM "Brown" is an overstatement. I think "Grey" would do him nicely.
I almost felt sorry for him when he indicated with a dose of self-deprecation that he'd only been in his job for 5 days. Five days of mending bridges, unspinning the old yarn of false intelligence and foreign words such as "patriotism", practising a "hollywood" smile and trying to get some sleep to look good in front of cameras, must be exhausting. Surely, they can't expect him -in addition to all that - to know his stuff and be flambuoyantly entertaining at the same time! For God's sake, the man is only temping!
Anyway, best of luck to Mr. Brown. I fear his somber facial expressions though. He reminds of Stalin (only going by the frown, not ideology. In fact, I couldn't gather so far what Brown's ideology is other than taxation of the elderly as means of looking into the future...)
Despite all that, I still think Mr. Brown just won't have the same flair as Blair (yeah, I am a poet) in taking this nation randomly to any odd war. Brown will ask for evidence of hostilities, and more evidence, then will take time to give it due consideration, and by the time he's made up his mind, the war will be over, the Americans will be defeated and we will have new elections!
Did you hear on today's news that ham and cheese sandwiches have the same volume of salt and fat as crisps. That's scientifically proven and stands as solid evidence. I'm sure PM Brown will have no qualms in banning the damn sandwiches in workplace and public houses, and appropriate stickers will be issued to all of us in due course. And that's what he should concentrate on to keep himself out of more serious trouble.
